Introducing Camp Guest Artist, trumpet player in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Kevin Finamore!

Kevin Finamore won the position of Second Trumpet in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra

in 2000. Prior to his Dallas Symphony tenure, Mr. Finamore performed with the

Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Singapore Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, and the

Sun Valley Summer Music Festival. Mr. Finamore also performed as fellow and soloist at

Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. He can be heard on recordings by American Brass

Quintet, Dallas Symphony Brass Quintet and CancerBlows: The Legends.  He has also

appeared as a soloist with the Dallas Symphony and can be heard on all the Dallas

Symphony Orchestra recordings since his tenure, as  he is the longest tenured member of the

orchestra’s trumpet section.

Mr. Finamore joined the faculty of SMU Meadows School of the Arts in 2018 as

Adjunct Associate Professor of Trumpet. He was formerly a teacher for the

preparatory department of The Julliard School of Music. Mr. Finamore can be seen regularly at master classes and teaching sessions around North Texas, Oklahoma, and around the

south in high schools and universities including OSU, University of Kentucky, UNT,

Baylor, and University of North Carolina - Greensboro.

Prior to his studies in New York, Mr. Finamore received his Masters in Music from The

Juilliard School of Music and Bachelor of Music degree from the North Carolina School of

the Arts. His professors included Ray Mase, Chris Gekker, and Mark Gould. Kevin

Finamore is a staple of the DSO trumpet section and within the trumpet section

maintains the section sound and versatility. His responsibilities include regularly

rotating within the section and can often be heard playing principal trumpet on both

classics and pops.

Kevin is a Yamaha performing artist. 

Pursuit of Music 2019 Summer Brass Camp

When:  Monday, July 8th to Friday, July 12 (8am to 4pm each day with a 5pm performance on Friday night)

Where:  Prosper High School

Who:  For all students entering grade 7 through recently graduated high school seniors

For:  All brass instruments

Cost:  $330 early registration (before June 15th) or $350 for registration after June 15th

           When registering, you will be given the option to pay in full or place a deposit                 of $125 (this amount will be applied towards the camp total).  If you withdraw                 before the June 15th date, you will receive a full refund, but if you withdraw after             the 15th, you will forfeit your camp deposit.

We are excited about offering the first annual Pursuit of Music Brass Summer camp!  This camp will allow students to perfect their skills in a chamber music setting, and every camper will have access to some of the top brass professionals in the DFW area.  Check back soon for information on our 2019 guest artist!!
